puddles

Remember my egg?
The one that I entered in an egg contest?
Well, off it went today along with the others to be judged.
I was kinda worried and had no expectations. I knew that it was different. Not traditional in any way.
In fact I was pretty sure it would get pushed aside for that reason.
Then mid afternoon I got the call.....
It won first place!
I was stunned, apparently so were the judges. I came away with an 8 GB ipod, I still can't believe it.
Then I found out that Phil's egg would have placed either first or second if it hadn't been for mine and he would have won an ipod or Nintendo DS
I felt like crap. I mean really, like I need another ipod?!
The reason he didn't place was that the judges didn't want to award both prizes to one family.
Now I was feeling really rotten.
He worked so hard on his egg, and so did Emily for that matter.
I thought about it for a while.
We have a shuffle, mini and a touch and I have never used any of them. In fact Dave gave me the shuffle he won at Christmas and I have yet to upload a single song onto it.
I had a pit in my stomach, poor kid. He has been drooling for one and so has my dad for that matter.
 What to do?
I don't need it.
I gave them the ipod. Whew, I feel better now!
With kids involved in the same competition I just couldn't keep it, it just wasn't fair.

I don't really have much to say about today.
We had a really rough night with both kids, maybe the barometric pressure was off or something, my knees were aching and usually that means something is high or low.
What this meant is that our morning was a dud. Dave was working the late shift today (thank goodness) so we took turns napping till he had to leave.

After running around and visiting a friend with a particularly cute baby (click here to see her since I forgot to take pictures) we headed out doors to find puddles.
We splashed till we were soaked and numb and since we had no fire logs left it was warm baths to get the chill out of our bones.

No crafts today....it was a bit of a recovery day instead.
A much needed lazy puddle splashing till it is dark out kind of day.

Congratulations on first place. No shocker there. And way to go on paying it forward. I hope you made Phil's day!

My Mom and Dad are in your town right now, and they are never happier to see grass let me tell you. But, then again you guys had -40 this past winter and all we got was a boat load of snow. You deserve Spring :)

That egg is absolutely divine!! I didn't see the others but I am sure yours was the clear winner (except for your family's of course!) And, it sounds like the whole family won!
